Questions to ask when choosing a cleaning company

Most disappointment comes from unasked questions about vetting, insurance and what the price actually includes.

Are your cleaners vetted?

Ask specifically whether cleaners are DBS-checked and interviewed in person, not just 'screened'. Every ABE cleaner is DBS-checked and interviewed before taking a booking.

Are you insured, and for how much?

Public liability insurance covers accidental damage while a cleaner is working in your home. ABE carries £5M public liability cover.

Is the price I see the final price?

Ask whether products, travel and VAT are included, and whether there is a call-out charge. ABE shows one final payable amount before you confirm, with products and equipment included.

What are the cancellation terms?

Find out how much notice you need and what the fee is inside that window. With ABE, cancelling or moving a clean is free with at least 24 hours' notice; inside 24 hours an admin fee applies and is shown before you pay.

Will I get the same cleaner?

Continuity matters more than most people expect — a cleaner who knows your home works faster and to a more consistent standard. ABE matches recurring bookings to the same local cleaner wherever possible.

What happens if I am not happy?

Ask what the process is and how quickly it is handled. Get the answer before you book rather than after.
