How Much Does House Cleaning Cost in London in 2026?

21 September 2026 · 6 min read

Sunlit, freshly cleaned living room in a London flat

If you are comparing cleaners in London right now, you will see hourly rates from around £15 to well over £30. This guide explains what those numbers actually buy, what a typical home costs to clean each week, and how to avoid the three charges that catch people out.

The short answer

In 2026, most London households pay £18 to £25 per hour for regular domestic cleaning. At ABE Cleaning Services the domestic rate is £19 per hour with a two-hour minimum, so the smallest booking is £38. There is no charge for cleaning products or travel inside our coverage area.

What a typical London home costs

HomeTypical timeCost at £19/hour
Studio or one-bedroom flat2 hours£38
Two-bedroom flat3 hours£57
Three-bedroom house4 hours£76
Four-bedroom house5 hours£95

These are guides, not rules. A four-bedroom house that is cleaned every week often takes less time than a two-bedroom flat that has not been touched for a month.

Weekly, fortnightly or one-off?

  • Weekly is the cheapest per visit, because the home never falls far behind. Most customers settle on 2 to 3 hours.
  • Fortnightly suits smaller households and usually needs about an extra half hour per visit.
  • One-off cleans cost more in total because the first visit does the catching up: skirting boards, oven fronts, limescale, behind furniture.

You can see the full breakdown on our pricing page.

Deep cleaning and end of tenancy

A deep clean is priced by the size and condition of the property rather than by the hour, because it includes work a regular visit never reaches: inside the oven, inside kitchen cupboards, descaling bathrooms, skirting, doors and frames, and limescale on glass.

An end of tenancy clean is the version landlords and letting agents expect at check-out, done against an inventory clerk's standard. If your deposit depends on it, book the tenancy clean rather than a long hourly visit — the scope is different, not just the length.

Office and commercial cleaning

Commercial work is quoted, never charged at the domestic rate. Price depends on floor area, how often you need us, the hours you want us on site, and whether washrooms, kitchens and waste are included. Tell us the building and the schedule and we will send a written quotation — see commercial cleaning.

Three charges that catch people out

1. Products and equipment

Some agencies expect you to supply everything, and others add a materials fee. Ask before you book. Our cleaners bring their own products and equipment at no extra cost.

2. Congestion and parking

Central London addresses inside the congestion zone often carry a surcharge from agencies that send cleaners across town. We work across North London and Harrow, so most visits involve no travel charge at all.

3. Cancellations

Late cancellations are usually chargeable. Our policy is plain: cancel with more than ten hours' notice and you pay nothing.

Cheapest is rarely the best value

A £14 hourly rate almost always means the cleaner is being paid below the London Living Wage, is not insured, or is not checked for the right to work in the UK. That matters to you, because an uninsured cleaner who damages a worktop or floods a bathroom leaves you to pay for it. Before booking anyone, ask three questions:

  1. Are you insured, and can I see the policy?
  2. Are your cleaners employed and right-to-work checked?
  3. Will I get the same cleaner each visit?

Every ABE cleaner is vetted and right-to-work checked before their first job, and we keep the same cleaner on your home wherever we can.
